Several people have been injured following a Delta jet originating in LA to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence Friday morning.

The flight, numbered 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson told. A number of the onboard staff sustained injuries.

Local paramedics said they treated five individuals, and took three of them to a medical facility with minor injuries that included spinal discomfort and head pain. Those affected spanned from their thirties and seventies.

This marks the latest incident of commercial jets encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that global warming is a significant contributor.

There were 245 people and a crew of 15 on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson added, stating that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.

Paramedics said they received a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
